Volej vždy zaskočí

Voleje mají obyčejně vysokou účinnost, protože se hrají blízko u sítě a soupeř má málo času na jejich odvrácení. Jejich provedení je v mnoha směrech odlišné od provedení úderů od základní čáry. Mnoho hráčů a hráček se volejů bojí, ale je to zbytečná obava. Nejsou mimořádně technicky náročné.

Využití: moment překvapení, změna rytmu, zrychlení hry, zkrácení přípravy soupeře na úder, psychický tlak (nutnost prohozu).

Co se týče držení, tak se spíše doporučuje držení kontinentální, jednotné pro oba voleje. V přípravě jsou lokty nahoře před tělem, hlava rakety před sebou cca ve výšce nosu, nohy dostatečně rozkročené a pokrčené. Přípravu k úderu je třeba zahájit split stepem a pohybem hrající paže téměř napnuté mírně vzad (ne za tělo), nedochází ke klasickému vytočení trupu jako u základních úderů. V průběhu voleje celá paže ztuhne – loket a zápěstí. Protažení je velmi krátké.

Taktika: voleje zhruba z čáry z centra kurtu jsou nízko nad sítí – ideální je volit dlouhý volej podél čáry, voleje blíže u sítě a vyšší je třeba hrát krátce ven z dvorce.

Druhy volejů:

Forhendový volej – držení kontinentální nebo východní forhendové

Příprava – vytočení ramen a přenesení váhy na pravou nohu (u praváka), raketa za míčem, nápřah prakticky chybí

Zásah a protažení – vykročení levou nohou úhlopříčně k míči se současným pohybem paže s raketou vpřed do míče, zásah míče je dostatečně před tělem s pevným zápěstím, hlava rakety je mírně otevřená, protažení je krátké směrem dopředu a dolů

Bekhendový volej – držení kontinentální nebo východní bekhendové

Nejdříve se snažíme získat cit pro míč jednoduchými cvičeními. Pak se snažíme letící míč jakkoliv zasáhnout. Navazují pokusy odehrát míč ve správném úderovém postavení. Nejprve po odrazu od dvorce. Pak volej z úderového postavení. V další fázi nácviku se přesouváme ze základního do úderového postavení a poté hrajeme s trenérem přes síť.
